The village Pournia flourished after the 16th century, when the inhabitants of Trapia, the richest and biggest village of the area, abandoned it because of plague. Surrounded by oak and black pine forests, running waters and stone bridges of unrivaled beauty, Pournia was also homeland of the famous stone masonry masters. Evidence of its acme is the picturesque public and religious monuments.
