Beneath the steep sloaps of Mt. Smolikas, the Pigi village is built amphitheartically at an altitude of 750m, probably in the 13th century. Until the '70s the locals preserved the traditional way of life, where the character of solidarity promoted their prosperity (Nitsiakos 2015: 33-39).
